Druid PvP Guide – How To Squeeze Every Drop Of Effectiveness From Your Druid In WoW PvP

Most of the druids don’t know how to play their class at maximum, so I have decided to write this druid PvP guide to make clear a few of the aspects which any player that wields a druid character should know for PvP. Quite different from the PvE gameplay style, where a druid just spams 2-3 buttons for spell casts, heals or to tank a mob, in PvP a druid must use the full potential of the class to dominate and win any fight.

The basics of playing a druid in PvP

As a first step of this druid PvP guide, I will focus on the most important features of the druids gameplay in PvP. No matter what spec you play as a druid, in PvP you must learn how to swap your forms. It is very important to know when you need to be bear, cat, cheetah, treant or moonkin. Also, you need to be very careful when morphing back to human form, to heal or perform certain spells, because that’s when you get stunned and you die. The cat form and the travel form are good to escape your pursuers, but again, you need to be extra careful not to be caught and stunned, because that will get you killed. When you master the shapeshifting and use it at maximum potential, your class will become a very useful opponent and team mate, and also a very fun class to play. The druid was until not long ago, a powerful support class. Since WotLK was released, feral and balance spec can put the druid in the posture of a heavy DPS. I will continue this druid PvP guide explaining the role of a druid in battlegrounds.

The role of the druid in battlegrounds

In any battleground a druid can play a support class in any posture, offense or defense. It can also be a distraction class, changing forms to lure the defenders away from an objective, but the most important attribution that a druid has for a battleground is being a flag carrier. Druids are the best class for this job in Warsong Gulch or Eye of the Storm because they have speed in cheetah form or cat form, they can quickly morph into bear when attacked and they can heal themselves if badly damaged. A skilled druid can cap all the flags alone in a battleground without too much of a hassle. A feral druid can also play a crucial role in conquering the enemy base towers in Alterac Valley, sneaking in stealthy as a cat and doing a heavy defense turning into bear. These being said, I move to the next chapter of this druid PvP guide, speaking about the role of a druid in arena.

The role of the druid in arena

The third part of this druid PvP guide concentrates on the arena general strategies the you must apply as a druid. This class is not very easy to play in arena. DPSer or healer, players often consider you as a main target and they will come at you with all they’ve got. Of course, if you are feral, all you need to do is turn into a bear and tank them as you tank the mobs in PvE. When under heavy melee attack, you must never exit your bear form because that will cause your death and may cost your team’s match. Another thing that a druid must master for the arena gameplay improvement are the crowd control spells. I’ve seen druids that made me believe they had more crowd control than even warlocks. The cyclone-charge-cyclone combos are very useful and can be very annoying and discouraging for the opposite team. As a healer, the druid must know how to kite the enemies. In this case changing to speed forms is very important. You must not be caught and stunned as a cat or cheetah, when the attackers are on you, you must stay as a bear and also you need to leave your pursuers behind to heal your team mates. These are about the basics that a druid must know for arena.

As a conclusion for this short druid PvP guide I can say that a druid is a complex class to play in arena or battlegrounds. You need to know the class perfectly and to use all your abilities wisely. When you master the gameplay of all your forms, playing the druid becomes a lot of fun.

What’s Your Reaction? Just as we were settling into a nice July 4th groove, Michael Steele went and got all tree-huggy on everyone, saying the war in Afghanistan is hopeless.
