gear rating warcraft mod

Warriors are the tanks of aion. They form the first line of defence in any quest group set up. Up there at the front, with boss mob bashing down on them, praying to the god of ‘Agro Control’, that the healer they teamed up with knows their job.

In aion, their are two warrior classes, the templar and the gladiator. The class that you choose really boils downs to two types of players. Those that like to pvp, and those that like to pve. For aion, templars are for pve, and gladiators are for pvp. That’s not to say that you cannot pvp with a templar, or pve with the gladiators, but with the skill and stigmas currently available, they are best suited to play their main roles.

Typical Templar Build

Templars should equip themselves with a sword and shield, no doubt. The shield should be used for blocks and stuns. The gear stats should always include shield rates and hp. This setup is great for PvE, and allows the templars to perform their primary roles as the main tank of the great. Having such a high defence, means that the healer classes do not have to heal as much, reducing mana costs, and generating less agro for the healer.

This build is not bad for PvP either. Having such high defence and health improves your survivability immensely. In one to one situations, you will often outlast other classes, though stigma additions such as the Prey skill are essential, as they stop ranged classes from flying off.

Typical Gladiator Build

Main weapons of choice is the polearm. With this you will be to aoe groups of enemies. The gear stats should always include physical attack and crit rate. For damage dealing you should equip yourself with a polearm. You will have a higher chance to crit with a polearm, making you a burst damage killer. Burst damage in any pvp situation wins the battles, as healers do not have the chance to heal your target, as would in a prolonged fight.

So the stats on your equipment should be crit, attack power and health. You will need health as your plate armour will not be that effective against magical attacks. In pve, you will have the role of the off-tank. You will be be upfront with templar, making sure any additional mobs pulled do not break through to your healers and ranged classes in your group. Having high damage makes you able to grab agro quickly, and your plate armour makes sure that the healer is not too stressed when you do.

In conclusion when you reach level 10, think long and hard what role you want to play in Aion. These two warrior classes share the same base class up to level 10, but the game play is vastly different once you have chosen your career path.

If you want to learn more about these classes, read the Aion Templar Guide or the Aion Gladiator Guide.

The path to level 80 is long, but what is after is even longer until the next expansion World of Warcraft: Cataclysm comes out. Right now, most of the game content is at level 80 – Heroic Dungeons, Raids, Arenas, daily and weekly quests and such. Reaching level 80 is an important point in everyone’s game play, as at level 80 it is time to choose a spec, make your enchants and work towards obtaining the proper gear for your class.

The shaman class is one of the so-called hybrid classes and as such can be very versatile – a shaman can fill the role of ranged dps (Elemental Shaman), melee dps (Enhancement Shaman), or a healer (Resto Shaman). This means that you will benefit from various items with different statistics for your different specs, however it is normal to focus at one primary spec at least at the beginning – trying to gear up for all 3 specs can be complicated especially if you are playing with other people who are not your close friends or members of your guild. Once you have decided which your main spec will be, it is time to get some heroics going and gather Emblems of Triumph for some gear you can buy with them.

Even though shamans are mail armor wearing classes, the armor type is not so important at this point and some shamans can choose leather or cloth as well depending on the statistics such items provide. However, as Blizzard has stated, this is about to change come Cataclysm, but at least for now gearing up from other armor pools is a viable option.

Depending on the chosen primary spec, different statistics become important for the shaman and the players should focus on obtaining more from specific statistic as follows:

Restoration Shamans (healer spec) will benefit most from items with spell power, mp5 and intellect. Additionally it is nice to have crit and haste as well, but the first 3 statistics are most important. Restoration Shamans have little use of spirit and no use of hit rating, so such items should be avoided and only taken for off spec if no one else in the group wants them.

Elemental Shamans (ranged damage dealer spec) will benefit most from items with spell power, intellect, mp5, hit rating and crit rating. Spirit is not really important for Elemental Shamans and you will never see sprit on mail armor gear; however you do see spirit on some rings, cloaks and other cross class items.

Enhancement shamans (melee damage dealer spec) are very different from Elemental and Restoration as it does not depend on spell power and intellect so much. Instead, Enhancement shamans are treated like melee dps and should focus on agility, hit rating and attack power. This puts Enhancement shamans into same items pool as rogues and hunters.

Gearing up your character once you reach level 80 is very easy now with some changes in professions implemented as well as the Emblems of Triumph and Emblems of Frost system. As soon as you reach level 80 you can start using the Random Heroic Dungeon tool and collect emblems while at the same time getting (hopefully) some gear upgrades. Before you start joining Heroics though, it is a good idea to check the Auction House for some craftable items you can afford to buy. Such items will help you perform better in heroics and speed up your gearing process.

If you can afford it, buy dual specialization – it costs 1000 gold to buy it, but after the initial expenses you can unlimitedly switch between 2 specializations which proves very useful. For shamans it will be easiest to gear up for Resto and Elemental at the same time, as some items are suitable for both specs, while for enhancement you will need totally different items. Having dual specialization will help you find a group easier and joining raids will also be easier – especially if you can play both specs equally well.

Once you have decided which one (or more) specs you will be focusing on, choose your glyphs for these specs and the proper enchants. For example Restoration Shamans should get enchants that improve their spell power, intellect, mp5, crit rating and haste, while Enhancement Shamans should get enchants that improve their hit rating, agility and attack power.

Once you are done with making all these choices, it is time to join the fun and start doing Heroics for Emblems and gear and once you have gathered a decent gear kit – it is time for Raids!
