My PC Power Cuts Off During Certain Operations! Please Help Me!?

During certain operations such as playing some games such as Operation Flashpoint (oldish game) Quake 4, FS2004 and installing other a few other programs such as world of warcraft. I have checked my RAM for errors using a RAM checker tool from microsoft, Ive updated all of my graphics and directX drivers, tried an alternative PSU, tried with only the essential system components on, I have also checked the RAM is getting the correct amount of power and this still occurs. It is not a random problem and happens during the same place on install programs. It also happens on webpages such as myspace. No Virus or Malware found in scans. This does not occur any set time after boot up or in most applications. Half Life 2 runs fine on full settings with no problem. Could it be a Software problem as I would expect if it was a motherboard problem then it to be random.

Ive got a 400W PSU, ATI X850XT, AMD Athlon64 3500, 1GB Crucial, DDR400, 200GB Maxtor SATA HDD, ECS nforce4 Motherboard.

It sounds like an electrical hardware problem. No software causes a computer to lose power. Possibly a malfunction in your power outlet. Try plugging your system into a different outlet and doing the operations listed above.
Runtime errors wouldn’t cause your computer to lose power.

And his video card is definitely powerful enough if it can run Half Life 2 with full settings without any problems.
